The first Chamber music season in Mexico about women composers and their works. Many Mexican women composers of the historical and contemporary eras will be performed by one of the most important chamber orchestras in Mexico, sponsored by Mexican Women Studies Institutes, the government and other academic institutions in Mexico. The exclusion of women composers throughout the musical history has been terrible.
There is a need to change that and for this reason we have created a series of concerts of their music. There will be performed works of all historical and contemporary styles composed by women in four concerts, that will make us find particular moments to think about the music conceived by them, but not only in the performance of their compositions but also in the discussions about the roll of women's social problems, that will take place in pre-concert lectures.
The audiences need to change their view of how to listen to music. As orchestras have the tendency to program traditional works of all times, in this series we'll take works from the baroque, classical, romantic, XX century and contemporary eras composed by women in order to get a fresher and more innovated programing, that also would enriched the audience knowledge about the woman as a composer.
FIRST LEVEL OF PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS
The concerts are going to be perform by The Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra that is one of the most important chamber music groups in Latin America. The musicians are young Mexican instrumentalists with great knowledge in historical and contemporary music performance.

SOR JUANA INEZ de la CRUZ
